Bad news for me - I loved the old Ginza Plaza. But with rents going up between 100% and 300%, the new place might well be a disaster much like the wreckovated Clarke Quay - an overpriced tourist trap no local in their right mind would ever visit.

Jim is right on all counts. The fundamental problem starts with the unwilingness of many to understnd terminolgy. If most citizens knew how to access the GAAP financial web presentations by the U.S. Comptroller General, they would have a better picture of what Jim is saying. The presentation supports his points.

What happen to “Long Term Planning”…cash for retirement etc….with the price some insane people pay for HDB housing, they will be in for a rude shock! Yes, they are pushing up the resale prices and the government is trying to maintain it for the rest of the citizens. Sure in 5 years time when the casino frenzy is over and done with ..bankers will be smiling, busy pasteing bankruptcy papers on doors.. DON’T they know that “What Goes Up, Must Come Down”.
