Malaysian cashcards only

MOTORISTS using Malaysia’s new CIQ complex will have to pay the RM$2.90 (S$1.22) fee using ‘Touch n Go’ cards - the country’s equivalent of Singapore’s CashCards.
Malaysian newspapers like The Star reported that customs counters will no longer accept cash payments. Attempts to confirm this with the High Commissioner of Malaysia in Singapore were unsuccessful. However, at the current Johor checkpoint yesterday, an immigration officer manning a booth told The Straits Times that all payments must be made with the cards from today.

A spokesman for the card producers, Touch n Go, said the cards are available from counters at the Causeway just before the current complex and at the new complex. They can also be bought at petrol stations and Telekom Malaysia shops in Johor Baru for RM$10.
